Interesting article. Personally, I think kids need to learn the tools that will provide them structure and try them out on their own. What are they going to do for themselves if everything is done for them? It’s all about balance. It shouldn’t be a playground version of Lord of the Flies. Like with all things, what’s needed is balance. There are a lot of good books about letting kids fail so that they learn. The first that pops to mind is Wendy Mogel’s Blessing of a Skinned Knee.
